An Army Rendezvous
"The creeper covered yard of a quaint Inn in a small ancient French town. There is no luxury at this Inn, and most of the waiting is done by one small boy, but there is good wine, the cook has arbour and ingenuity and thousand of officers fresh from the trenches have found the modest comfort of the place divine. When you have been long unused to them, a table-cloth, cutlery that shines and a bed with sheets strike you as if they were new and delicious inventions"
A review of the hôtel during the war on the western front by Muirhead Bone
